  College of Fisheries - Ratnagiri

  The College of Fisheries, Ratnagiri.

The maritime state of Maharashtra has a tradition of seafaring and fishing along its 720 km long coastline. The State annually contributes about 5.0 lakh tons of fish from the aquatic resources. Considering the importance of fisheries, the State Government of Maharashtra established a College of Fisheries under Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Agricultural University (Dr. B. S. K. K. V. alone has created an independent and full-fledged faculty of Fisheries and this is the only College in the State where undergraduate fisheries educational program is implemented. The annual admission capacity is 40 for B. F. Sc., 6 for M. F. Sc. (Aquaculture), 6 for M. F. Sc. (Fish Processing Technology)6 for M. F. Sc. (Fisheries Resource Management and Extension Education) and 3 for Ph. D. (Aquaculture).

The College of Fisheries is located at village Shirgaon on the outskirts of Ratnagiri city. The University admits students on State-level basis for the UG and PG programmes in fisheries science. The brief details of the college are as follows:
