  ATIC (Agriculture Technology Information Center)
 
In order to have modern approach for Transfer Of Technology program for the farmers through extension education the University has established the Agriculture Technology Information Center. The ATIC uses different media such as computers, Internet, multimedia CDs, radio, television, newspapers, periodicals etc. for providing extension education to the farmers. In addition printed folders, booklets on agriculture, dairy and fisheries technology have been published for circulation. The university publishes  “Krishi Dainandini” diary every year in order to keep the farmers, dairymen, fishermen updated.

Agriculture Technology Information Center

 
In this era of Information Technology there is a great demand and need for facilitating the sustainable and accelerated development of Agriculture under one Umbrella. The Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) at the Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, Dist. Ratnagiri (M.S.) is a single window system where information, production inputs and diagnostic services are made available.
 
 OBJECTIVES  

To develop and supply latest information on agriculture in the form of folders, bulletins, posters, booklets etc.
 
To supply seeds, planting materials and other technological products of the University.
To provide advisory services.
To assist and guide visitors on activities and achievements and exhibition.
To develop/strengthen the linkage with educational institutes, industries, development departments, farmers' organizations etc. for effective dissemination of technologies.
 
To generate financial resources through sales and services.
To help farmers in problem solving and decision making.
To develop strong feedback system between farming community-research-extension-industries for continuous refinement of technologies.
 
To provide diagnostic services particularly on soil, plant and water including plant diagnostic.
Distant education of farmers and others through answering queries and print media.
 
The mass media like radio, television, newspapers, magazines etc. are used for technology dissemination. The folders, prize publications on agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy, fisheries are published through this center. For easily and timely availability of agriculture and related information to the farmers, extension workers etc. the center has published Agriculture diary every year since establishment of ATIC. This center has also published newsletters in English as well as marathi language. To strengthen the extension education activities, the University has a plan to establish Plant Clinic, fisheries Vigyan Kendra, etc. 
 

 

Based on the principles of ATIC, efforts were made to initiate mini-ATIC at Ganpatipule, Ratnagiri, a place through financial support from Statutory Board for Development of Rest of Maharashtra.
