In the district where there is no KVK, the concept of remandating ZRSs for taking up the additional functions of KVK was operationalised. Resultantly, there are such 53 remandated ZARS-KVKs in the country. With the view to strengthen the Zonal Research Stations, to take up the additional functions of KVK, a remandated KVK has been established in January 2000 under National Agricultural Technology Project at Zonal Agricultural Research Station, Karjat, Dist. Raigad. It is one of the four such ZAR-KVKs, in Maharashtra.
