Cultivated as rainfed crop. Frost and rains during flowering time harmful. For planting pits of 60cm3 are dug at 7m x 7m or 8m x 8m spacing, depth of planting is 20 to 30cm.

Package of practices
Irrigate for one year @ 30 liters of water at 30 days interval and at 15 days interval during summer months. Follow proper plant protection measures. No. of grafts/ha: 155 to 200 grafts.
Plant protection measures
3 sprays of insecticides – 0.1% carbaryl, 0.05%. Endosulphan and 0.05% Monocrotophos are necessary for controlling Tea mosquito pest which damages the inflorescence, Starting from emergence of new vegetative flush in Oct – November.
Fertilizers
From 4th year and onwards each plant be given following fertilizer dose 30 kg FYM, 2.000 kg urea, 1.500 kg single super phosphate and 0.500 kg Muriate of potash. Graded dose be given to younger plants as per the age.
Yield
Average and range 15kg nuts/plant/year from 10 year onwards
Harvesting
Full mature nuts be plucked or fallen nuts be collected.

Additional points
Weeding and proper management be done. Dense planting at 4 m x 4m be done for first 8 to 10 years and then alternate row plants be cut down to maintain proper income during the early years.
