The Agronomy Department of this University has developed and released package of practices of Kharif crops. Cereals viz. Rice, Finger Millet, Prosomillet, pulses viz. cowpea, Black Gram, Horse Gram, Pigeon Pea, Green Gram, Moth Bean and oil seed crops viz. Ground nut, sesamum, Niger. Similarly this department has developed and recommended package of practices for Rabi crops viz. rice, maize, pulses viz. cowpea, green gram, cheek pea, field bean and horse gram and oil seed crops viz. Groundnut, Mustard, Sunflower, Soybean & Sesamum. Further, this department has developed & recommended package of practices for Sugarcane, Water Melon, Okra, Chilli, Brinjal, Bitter Gourd & cucumbers.
Department of Agronomy has developed and recommended important cropping systems in rice based cropping system viz. Rice-Ground Nut, Rice-Maize-Fallow, Rice-Cowpea Fallow, Rice-Field bean Fallow, Rice-Rice. Intercropping systems viz. Maize-Cowpea, Maize-Ground Nut, Finger Millet-Black Gram, Finger Millet-Ground Nut, finger Millet-Niger. The Department has also recommended adoption of farming system for small and marginal farmers both under rain fed and irrigated conditions. Components of farming systems included were rice, vegetables, animal units viz. goat and poultry, fruit crops viz. mango and cashew.
