The Plant Biotechnology Unit has been set up at the University headquarters on 26th January 1995. The unit has following objectives:
- To initiate the micro-propagation studies in the crops viz. Mango, Cashew, Kokum, Jackfruit, Bamboo and Bananas.
- To impart the research and educational facilities in the field of Plant biotechnology for the under graduate and post graduate students.
- To investigate and address the different disorders and diseases through genetic engineering techniques.
- Crop improvement through molecular and recombinant DNA techniques.
The unit is having well developed tissue culture center and molecular biological laboratory set up at the head quarter.
