The Plant Biotechnology Unit has been set up at the University headquarters on 26th January 1995. The unit has following objectives:

1. To initiate the micro-propagation studies in the crops viz. Mango, Cashew, Kokum, Jackfruit, Bamboo and Bananas.
2. To impart the research and educational facilities in the field of Plant biotechnology for the under graduate and post graduate students.
3. To investigate and address the different disorders and diseases through genetic engineering techniques.
4. Crop improvement through molecular and recombinant DNA techniques.

The unit is having well developed tissue culture center and molecular biological laboratory set up at the head quarter.
