Agronomy :
1. Ridge gourd should be intercropped in old mango orchard to secure maximum additional returns. However, crop like bitter gourd can also be grown in such orchards to avoid glut in the market
2. For effective control of Ranmodi (E. odoratum) during initial stages of germination and establishment, pre emergence application of Butachlor or Diuroon or Atrazine @ 2 kg a.i./ha immediately after commencement of monsoon has to be followed by post emergence and post monsoon application of glyphosate @ 1 kg a.i./ha
3. Dominant grass weeds in mango or cashew nut orchards can be effectively controlled by spraying glyphosate one, two or three months after onset of monsoon. |
